  • Tips for Upgrading Your Loyal Skincare Clients

Showing your appreciation for your loyal customers will keep them coming back time and time again. “Little upgrades are a small price to maintain your clients loyal and happy. Going the additional mile provides you with an edge over your competitors,” says Lydia Sarfati, Founder and CEO of Repêchage. Consistent with Sarfati, listed here are some specific ways one can upgrade each service with anti-aging benefits.

Facial Upgrade: A hand massage must always be included as a small upgrade, but for the clients that come to you religiously you will need to offer a bigger upgrade once in awhile. For each five facials they receive you may offer your clients a pro anti-aging eye treatment.

Manicure/Pedicure Upgrade: An ideal way to upgrade your customers after five manicures or pedicures is by offering an anti-aging hand or foot treatment, which you could create through the use of your facial treatment products and masks that you simply have already got and apply to the feet or hands as you can at the face!

  • NAHA: Judging…The within Scoop

NAHA 2013 was easily among the finest shows EVER inside the salon industry. It was a real celebration of the abilities of our salon professionals, with artists from coast to coast taking home the head honor. There has been high energy, an ideal flow from the red carpet to the awards presentation and joy for and from the finalists and winners.

There is such a lot curiosity in regards to the judges and the judging process that we decided to get to the lowest of it. Brad Masterson, Communications Manager with the PBA (Professional Beauty Association) and Vice chairman of Y Public Relations, works with the NAHA committee who selects the judges and work to confirm the whole integrity of the blind and fair judging process.

“PBA goes to extensive lengths to ensure that the method is totally fair,” he says. “We select the correct judges from world wide, and nobody judge judges each of the categories.

“NAHA allows anybody to go into,” he continues. “The contest gives everyone an opportunity and it is usually a career changer.”

This year there have been two new categories: Men and Make Up, and Brad says there’s new or tweaked categories for the 25th anniversary awards show next year.

Brad offers a short overview of the judge selection and judging process on this short video. For additional information about NAHA, visit: Probeauty.org/NAH.

  • HOW-TO: 2 Ready-to-Wear Style Ideas: Goddess Updo and Grunge Chic

This upcoming Fall, Celebrity Stylist Nicholas Penna Jr. predicts that updos with flashy embellishments, grunge chic waves, classy top knots and dazzling pinned-back styles are going to be the fad of the season. Here, he offers steps to 2 ready-to-wear styles you could try for your clients.

    Updo Goddess

Add versatility to this voluminous updo by adding a headscarf or gold embellishments for a more formal look.

STEP 1: Apply dry shampoo through the hair to take in excess oil and increase volume.

STEP 2: Once hair is prepped, section off a strip of hair running from front to the back of the pinnacle. The section may also be wide or narrow, counting on your required look.

STEP 3: Backcomb or tease the roots of the hair in a single-inch sections with a skinny comb, working your way forward to front.

STEP 4: Once the specified volume is achieved, smooth the remainder of the hair up and over the teased section using a paddle brush. To create more of a pompadour, take the edges of the hair and pull back right into a braided or simple bun.

STEP 5: Prefer a gold headband or gold embellishments.

    Glamour Grunge

Go edgy this autumn season with textured, “glamorous” grunge waves. To get the look, pull apart the waves for a more distressed look.

STEP 1: This look works best on unwashed hair, but when your client has clean strands, add texture to the look by applying L’Oreal Professionnel True Grit Texturizing Powder.

STEP 2: Part the hair at the desired side and gently run fingers through hair—stay clear of a comb or a broom, these tools will frizz the specified look.

STEP 3: With A 2 inch-curling iron, pick sections of hair randomly through hair, and curl the lowest half. Loosen curls with fingers when they have cooled.

STEP 4: Finish with a dusting of texturizing powder.
