To elevate awareness for research, care and a cure, Reuben Carranza, CEO of Wella North America, partnered with City of Hope\u2014a world leader in breakthrough medical technology.<\/p>\n<p>Blue is the universal color of diabetes, so a distinct shade of blue was created to function the official color of the Hope is standard  Campaign.<\/p>\n<p>For this collection, Wella artist Alexandra Matiz and Sebastian artist Marylle Koken planned to add a blue panel to honor the campaign but were inspired by the movement on this model\u2019s hair and decided to make a more dramatic statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe chose to exploit her hair shape and color to mirror waves\u2014crashing waves\u2014that show different shades of blue because the  color \u2018crashes\u2019 down the movement of the waves within the  hair,\u201d Koken says.<\/p>\n<p><span>The Hope is standard  campaign remains accepting donations at cityofhope.org\/hopeisinstyle. Just click the \u201cDonate Online\u201d button to make your or your salon&#8217;s donation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>true blue <\/span>How-To<\/p>\n<p>After an intense consultation, Matiz began the colour process using two different lifting formulas to feature variations of color, and two blue shades\u2014a light indigo and a blue\/green. The shades were diluted with developer and processed for various lengths of time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy goal with using the several lighteners, dilutions and processing times was to create quite a few shades inside the hair to honor the shades of the blues within the sea that are irregular and organic,\u201d Matiz says. \u201cIt seems like I used four or five formulas, after I only used two.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"virtualEmbedLeft\"><span class=\"vZoom\">click image to zoom<\/span><span class=\"vImage\"> <img  src='http:\/\/www.angelbeautysalon.co.uk\/images\/2013\/11\/true-blue-methods-to-hope-is-standard-involves-life_-edho_1.jpg'    align='right' border='0' style='padding-left:10px;'  alt='' border=0 > <\/span><\/span> Steps: <\/p>\n<p>STEP 1: Place a slice on foil from a horizontal section along the parietal bone. Feather lightener Blondor Soft with 13-volume developer from off scalp to ends.<\/p>\n<p>STEP 2: Cover with foil.<\/p>\n<p>STEP 3: Balayage above the rounds of the pinnacle using Magma, equal parts \/89 + \/07 with 40-volume developer. Take \u201cwave\u201d subsections and balayage the peaks of the wave, getting as near to the roots as possible.<\/p>\n<p>STEP 4: Process until hair within the  foils reaches a degree 10. Shampoo and condition.<\/p>\n<p>STEP 5: Return to the previously lifted areas. Place the hair on a balayage board and apply Koleston Perfect: 1 part 0\/28 + 6 parts Pastel developer.<\/p>\n<p>STEP 6: As you figure up the top, alternate with Koleston Perfect: 2 parts 0\/88 + 1 part 0\/65 + 10 parts Pastel developer. The more developer you add into these formulas, the lighter the colour. Sometimes the colour was processed quickly to succeed in different variations of blue tones. Rinse with cool water to stop colors from overlapping.
